Watching the War Drunk
2004 – 2006
mixed media
Watching the War Drunk is a series of studio pantings done in response to the Iraq War. Aside from being opposed to the war, I was outraged at how few images were available to the public despite this being the most visually documented war in history. From soldiers wearing body cameras to UAVs documenting attacks, the government amassed an unprecedented amount of wartime imagery, none of which was ever made available to the public. In response, I decided to create my own images for the public using news stories and research as source material.
